Past PTA Sponsored Events

As a PTA, our main goal is to provide enrichment activities for our children and students.  Many may not know how much the PTA sponsors within the school and for the students.  Below is a list of the programs that we are currently working on, along with some activities and programs we have already completed this past year!

Arvada’s Festival of Scarecrows – October 8, 2016:  Lawrence Elementary took 2nd place in the “Funniest” category with our Leopard Minion Scarecrows, built by the students at Lawrence Elementary!  This was an amazing opportunity for the kids to learn to build scarecrows and compete in our city’s Scarecrow event.  Congratulations everyone!  We did an awesome job this year!

Arvada Harvest Festival Parade – September 10, 2016:  This year we had a larger contingency representing Lawrence where many dressed as their favorite hero/shero in celebration of the theme, Ultimate Superhero.  We built a sparkling night-time city skyline complete with a replica of the Arvada water tower. Many wore superhero costumes while others donned more traditional tributes to first responders, our superb military, and even a tribute to Helen E. Lawrence, the school’s namesake.

Each year the parade presents various opportunities for volunteers, both young and old, to help prep for this fun event. Look for news in late spring and early fall when we begin preparations for next year’s parade.  Please plan to join us if you can.

Yes on 3A & 3B:  We are presently working on supporting this ballot initiative in Jeffco in many ways.  Want to help?  Like talking to people?  Contact us for more specifics on how you can help us spread the word through neighborhood canvassing, phone banks, letters, etc. Time is of the essence–November 8th is just around the corner.  Help us cross that finish line with a Yes on 3A/3B!

IPie Restaurant Night:
This was our first fundraiser restaurant night of the year. Support was strong and many families came out to have dinner and dessert to benefit the Lawrence playground. PTA donated all earnings from this fundraiser to the school specifically for the playground.

School Supplies Drive:  This year we would like to thank the following businesses for their donations to this effort:

Arvada Elks Auxillary Club
Arvada Rebekah Lodge
Arvada United Methodist Church
Costco Warehouse
Jehn Engineering
Spirit of Christ H.O.P.E.
Storyline Fellowship

Rummage Sale: Board members and two PTA members participated in this effort and sold several items.  The remaining items were loaded and delivered to the Arvada ARC.  This was also an opportunity to discuss Yes on 3A & 3B with community members who stopped by to shop.  All responses were positive and led to only positive comments about Lawrence Elementary and the work that is being done here.

Reflections Celebration Night:
Lawrence received 6 entries from students in various grade levels in the first annual Reflections program in which the school participated. Judges advanced all 6 entries to the district level. The participants and their families were invited to a special dinner celebration in the school library. Each student received a congratulatory certificate for their participation. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry and attended the celebration. Additionally, Reflections entries from across Jeffco were on display December 3 – 10th, 2016 at Red Rocks Community College. Great job!

Butter Braids:
We just wrapped up the Butter Braids fundraiser with deliveries received and distributed on Friday, December 8, 2016. Thank you to all students who participated in sales. December 21, 2016 PTA will be hosting a rewards party for all students who sold 10 or more butter braids. We will be making the necessary arrangements with these students and their teachers to dismiss them to attend the festivities at 1 p.m. Bouncy castle-type fun and prizes are in store.

Santa Photos:
Free photos with Santa were offered after school on December 8, 2016. PTA will be distributing photos to families before the winter break. Many families and children participated for some adorable photo opportunities. Thank you for joining us for such a heartwarming and enjoyable event!

Bennett’s Bar-B-Que Fundraiser Night:
PTA is sponsoring another restaurant fundraiser night on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5 p.m. to close at Bennett’s Bar-B-Que off 52nd and Wadsworth. All proceeds earned from this fundraiser are being donated to the Lawrence playground effort. Please stop by and enjoy dinner with your family to lend your support.

Holiday Shop
PTA once again sponsored the annual Holiday Shop from December 12 – 16, 2016 to give students an opportunity to shop during lunch and after school. This year was a solid success! Thank you to all the students and parents who shopped. Thank you also to Angie Rowlette, Theresa Quintana and Mia Ruybal for providing their Super-Mom skills in helping students track their purchases and making sure the math was right.

Beau Jo’s Holiday Meeting Donation
Thank you to Beau Jo’s – Arvada for donating several delicious piping hot pizzas for our December PTA meeting on December 20, 2016. Members were treated to a light dinner including holiday refreshments and pizza compliments of our friends at Beau Jo’s. Thank you for your support!

Chipotle Restaurant Night
Our January restaurant night fundraiser was held at Chipotle in Olde Town on January 19, 2017. This was the perfect solution for dinner on a cold winter night! We had good turnout for this event, thank you to all who participated!
